In the latest episode of On the Marie Curie Couch, bereavement expert Jason Davidson meets Tim Lovejoy.
TV presenter and podcaster Tim Lovejoy made his name fronting shows including Soccer AM and Something For The Weekend. These days, you can catch him on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch and on his podcast, Dear Lovejoy. In this episode of On the Marie Curie Couch, Tim dropped by to chat to our bereavement expert, Jason, and spends some time reflecting on the death of his brother, James, at the age of 37.
Tackling big questions
“My daughter, she’s seven now, but I think she was about the age of four or five, she started talking to me about my brother a lot, ‘Where is he? What happened to him? What happens when you die?’ So I said, ‘It's beautiful. You fall into a sleep and then you die.’
“I thought, well, we don’t know what happens. All we know is from people with near-death experiences is that it’s a beautiful feeling. I mean, no one comes back from being nearly dead and says it was horrible. They always say, ‘You go into a beautiful state.’”
Keeping memories alive
“What’s been interesting for me recently is the amount of conversations I have with my mum and dad about [my brother]. We used to have very little conversation about him, which I think is a mistake. If you want people to live on, they live on through your memories, your conversations and your discussions.
