Lace up your walking boots and join us for the brand new Whitby coastal trek in 2022.

By taking on this challenge to hike Whitby for charity, you'll help more people living with a terminal illness get the care and support they need.

What can you expect on the Whitby coastal trek?

The 12-mile trek will take you along the historic Cinder Track and Cleveland Way. Starting from Whitby, you’ll follow the old railway line to reach the beautiful hamlets of Robin Hood’s Bay.

After passing dramatic coastal views of the North Sea and the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside, your trek will end as you descend the 199 steps of Whitby Abbey – where Bram Stoker's Dracula reached England's shores in the classic 1897 novel!

Every step you take will be helping to fund vital hours of nursing care.

How we'll support you

We want you to look and feel the part when you're exploring the great outdoors. So along with your welcome pack, you'll get your breathable high-tech trekking top to wear on the day!

You'll also receive advice on fundraising, on the kit you'll need to face the elements, and on training to make sure you're in the best shape possible to go the distance.

Our fantastic team of staff and volunteers will greet you with a warm welcome as you arrive. They'll also celebrate your success with you as you finish your challenge, with a post-trek reception and medal for every trekker to wear with pride.

You'll leave with stories to tell of your amazing adventure and the friends you made along the way, confident that you've helped Marie Curie offer vital care to people and their families living with a terminal illness.

Please Note: Clifftop walking

This trek is not suitable for anyone with a fear of heights. The Cleveland Way is a recognised National Trail enjoyed by visitors every year and we ask participants to exercise caution when walking along the route and not deviate from the path along the cliff tops. In extreme weather conditions of high winds, the events team reserve the right to suspend the trek if it is deemed unsafe.

How the money you raise helps

£207 could help fund nine hours of overnight nursing care for someone living with a terminal illness.

£400 could help fund 15 hours of bereavement support by phone or webchat, so those who are grieving get the support they need.

£1,250 could help fund a portable oxygen system that will relieve distressing symptoms, so a person doesn’t have to be confined to bed.
