The festive season can often be tinged with darkness for families affected by terminal illness.
That's why, on Tuesday 21 December, Marie Curie will Light Up the Night, turning the shortest day into the brightest night to remember loved ones lost.
Light Up the Night is an event where you donate or raise £100 to dedicate a lantern in memory. Not only will this light up the night literally, with poignant and beautiful light displays all over the UK... but all the money we raise will help Marie Curie bring light to the darkest hours of people affected by terminal illness and their loved ones.
Once you've done your fundraising, we'll give you one lantern to light at your home or workplace, and we'll light another for you at your nearest Marie Curie-organised display.
Please note: this is the page for Light Up the Night in England, Wales and Scotland. To find out what's happening in Northern Ireland, please visit our Light Up the Night Northern Ireland page.

Will the lanterns impact the environment?
We won't be releasing floating lanterns, and all lantern bags will be recyclable. We'll be using battery-operated candles, making sure there's no risk of fire or danger to wildlife.
Can I attend an event to see my lantern in person?
Restrictions vary from event to event. Your local team will be in touch to let you know whether you can attend the event in your area.
Unfortunately, we can't welcome visitors to events held at our hospices due to covid-19 restrictions. We'll be sharing plenty of photos and videos across our social media so you can still be part of the experience.
How does my money help?
The £100 you raise or donate will fund care and support for families affected by terminal illness. See where your money goes to find out more about our spending and the impact of our work.
