Meet Liz

Share
Liz has been a Marie Curie shop volunteer since 2009. She became a volunteer after her late husband was cared for in a Marie Curie hospice.
"He was well cared for by the Marie Curie staff… and the nurses were incredibly supportive”, Liz says of her husband’s time at the hospice.
As a Marie Curie shop volunteer, she helps two mornings a week preparing donated goods for sale and displaying merchandise on the shop floor. She sorts out clothing donations, organises clothes by size, attaches price tickets, rotates stock, and operates the till.
Liz says, “I enjoy being a Marie Curie shop volunteer. I get to meet customers and be part of the shop team on a regular basis and the role provides an opportunity for me to give something back to the charity.”

Volunteer in a Marie Curie charity shop

With 130 Marie Curie stores across the UK, volunteering in your nearest store is a great way to gain retail experience, meet new people and support the local community.

Shop volunteers help with the day-to-day running of our stores, working as part of a small, friendly team for half a day or more a week. They’re involved in a wide range of roles like replenishing stock, processing transactions, and putting up eye-catching displays.
