Marie Curie's 75th anniversary fundraising guide

Find everything you need to organise events in your community celebrating Marie Curie’s 75th anniversary.

  • Whether you host a firewalk, ball, trivia night, glorious garden party or bake sale – there are so many ways to celebrate this momentous milestone. The choice is yours! You may want to get creative and try a new event idea or take a look back at events you've held in the past that were a huge hit.

See our event and activity ideas to help you with your planning.

Here are a few examples of events that Fundraising Groups across the UK have planned for the 75th Anniversary so far:

    • Christchurch and Highcliffe Fundraising Group: Sparkling afternoon tea, 16 June 2023
    • Newcastle Fundraising Group: Coffee morning, 8 July 2023
    • Woolton Fundraising Group: Ladies lunch, 16 July 2023
    • Ripon Fundraising Group: Dogs of Yorkshire calendar, sales over the summer 2023
  • You can decide to hold an event at any stage during the anniversary year. We recommend that you consider the type of event you're holding and the time of year that might work best for that event, avoiding any clashes with similar events in your local area.

  • Speak to your local Community Fundraiser, who will be able to support you with your ideas.

You'll need to complete our event activity paperwork at least six weeks before your event. If it's a large-scale event, there may be additional information we need, so please speak to your Community Fundraiser as soon as you start planning.

It's important to think about how you will promote your event locally to encourage people to attend. Your Community Fundraiser may be able to help you with a press release for your local newspapers or magazine, and we can support with design of posters, leaflets and tickets.

If you're looking to sell tickets in advance, we can set up your event on Trybooking to help you manage ticket sales. This can be set up for free and paid events, so please speak to your Community Fundraiser for more information.

  • There are a few options to help you talk about Marie Curie at your event:

    • Your Community Fundraiser can provide you with some key information about Marie Curie's 75-year history that a member of your group can use at your event.
    • If we have a Marie Curie Speaker volunteer in your area, they might be able to come along to talk about the charity.
    • If a volunteer or staff member is unable to come along to your event to talk, we may have videos that you could show at your event with key information.

75th anniversary event showcase

In March 2023, our Liskeard and District Marie Curie Fundraising Group in Cornwall organised a night of singing and joyous celebration to celebrate Marie Curie's 75th anniversary. The Levow Kesson Mixed Voices Choir were fabulous and the night was enjoyed by many in the St Neot Church. They raised £590 for people living with terminal illness.
