How the money you raise helps

£17 could pay for a Support Line call or webchat. To receive information, or just have someone to listen to them, support from a trained Marie Curie volunteer can be a lifeline.

£120 heats a hospice for a day. Medical equipment is important, but few things are as crucial as making sure people are warm and comfortable.

£207 could pay for nine hours of nursing care. That means nurses and healthcare assistants giving someone the friendly, expert help through the night, in the comfort of their own home.

The walk

Wear appropriate clothing. And come rain or shine, you'll need appropriate footwear. Twilight Walk is a walk with areas of low light so please bring a torch with you.

The route is about 7km, in a circular route, ending where we start. A walker with an average level of fitness would complete the walk in around one-and-a-half to two hours.

The route is a mixture of flat canal towpaths, steeply sloping concrete paths and undulating gravel paths. For more accessibility information, email walkni@mariecurie.org.uk.

The event will be open from 6.30pm. The walk will start at 7.30pm with a warm-up starting at 7.15pm.

Limited parking is available at Barnett Demesne, but other nearby sites will be available for parking, including at:

  • Fleming Fulton School, Malone Rd, BT9 6TY
  • Glenveigh School, Haberton Park, BT9 6TX
  • House of Sport (Public Parking)

  • Mary Peters Track, Upper Malone Rd, BT9 5PR

Fundraising

You can pay your fundraising money however is convenient for you: either online via JustGiving, by post or by phone. But we can’t process money on the day of the walk so please don’t bring any funds raised to the event.

Online via JustGiving: If you’ve created a JustGiving page for Twilight Walk, you can pay your money in online. Visit JustGiving for details.

By post: Send your sponsor forms and cheque or CAF voucher made payable to Marie Curie to: Twilight Walk Team, Marie Curie, 60 Knock Road, Belfast BT5 6LQ. Please do not send cash in the post.

By phone: You can make a credit or debit card payment by phone on 0800 716 146. Please ask to add this to your Twilight Walk sponsorship.

The money you raise goes towards helping people living with any terminal illness, and the people close to them. Whatever you raise could help someone feel supported through the experience of dying and grief. So they feel cared for as they approach the end of life. So they aren't facing it alone. Together, we can ensure a better end life for all in the UK.

Online registration has now closed but you can register on the night from 6.30pm. Please email us at walkni@mariecurie.org.uk for event information.
