Fundraising to Beat the Trails
Read on to find advice, tips and inspiration to get you started:
Your JustGiving page
JustGiving makes donating and sponsoring simple. All donations sent through a Marie Curie JustGiving page come directly to us, so there's no need to chase up donation money. That includes any donations that come through after your trek is finished.
Set up your JustGiving page for your trek now:

Make the most out of JustGiving
Read our tips to making your JustGiving page a success.
- Raise your first £46 and you'll receive a waterproof rucksack cover to keep everything dry during rainy days. To reduce postage, we'll include your rucksack cover in your event pack about month before your event.
- Reach your fundraising pledge of £207 and you'll receive your digital celebration pack (if you've opted in to receive one).
- Double your fundraising pledge to raise £414 which could fund two nights of nursing care and you'll get a digital reward voucher which you can redeem on the day of the event for a bespoke trekking tubular scarf.
We know that fundraising can be just as challenging as the training for your trail. Our fundraising rewards are our way to say thank you as you reach your pledged fundraising and beyond. Subject to terms and conditions.

Sponsorship money
Please don't bring your sponsorship money with you on the day, we aren't able to process any money at the event. Mobile phone reception can be patchy in some locations, so we suggest you bring a screenshot of your JustGiving page if you're fundraising online, or your sponsorship forms if you're fundraising offline, if you will be collecting any fundraising rewards.
Paying in your sponsorship
If you're fundraising through JustGiving, your sponsorship will automatically come to us, so there's nothing you need to do. If you are fundraising offline there are a number of ways you can pay:
By Telephone: Call 0800 716 146 to make a card payment over the phone.
By Post: Send a cheque (made payable to Marie Curie) with your completed sponsorship forms to: Supporter Relations Team, Marie Curie. PO BOX 23897, 14 Links Place, Edinburgh, EH6 9AB.
When sending in any sponsorship by post or over the phone, remember to include the name of the trail you are taking part in, and that your name is clearly written on any sponsorship forms.
Fundraising as a team?
Let us know and we can record your fundraising under your team name. Call 0800 716 146 or email events@mariecurie.org.uk for more details.
- Share pictures from your Beat the Trails event on social media – pictures of you crossing the finish line, at the summit, or proudly wearing your medal will always go down well!
- Add an update to your JustGiving page – log into your JustGiving account and head to your fundraising page. Scroll down to the ‘Updates’ section, and here you can add messages and updates for your supporters to see. Update people that you have completed the trail and you may see more donations come in.
- Follow up with your supporters to thank people – your supporters will be keen to know how you got on, so spread the word that you did it and thank them for their support. It may even trigger more donations.
- Ask your employer about Matched Funding – some employers will offer to match your fundraising pound for pound or agree a fixed amount to donate. It's an easy way to top up your total, so ask your employer if they have a matched giving scheme.
- Set yourself a stretch target – people always love a challenge and if you stretch your target to round up to an even number or to pay for an extra hour of care, supporters are likely to get on board to help achieve this with you.
- Got cash you need to pay in? If you’ve collected sponsorship offline and you need to pay it in, don’t wait! Here’s how.
