Responding to the Welsh Government debate on Assisted Dying

Marie Curie Cymru Associate Director of Policy and Public Affairs, Jon Antoniazzi, said: "Marie Curie takes a neutral position on whether the law should change and recognise that this is a complex, emotive and deeply personal issue for people. We'd like to thank Members for the way in which today's debate was approached, which recognised how complex this issue is, and for drawing attention to the issue of palliative and end of life care. Whether the law on assisted dying changes or not, there will continue to be a growing need for palliative and end of life care, delivered in the right place, at the right time. Currently, too many people are unable to access the care they need. This is why Marie Curie continues to campaign for changes to palliative and end of life care in Wales, to ensure that everyone can access care that is safe, timely, effective and person-centred."
