Marie Curie Responds to Wes Streeting's Comments on End of life

Matthew Reed, Chief Executive of UK's leading end of life charity, Marie Curie

"Wes Streeting's comments today that end of life care is not good enough echo the real concerns of tens of thousands of dying people every day in the UK. Right now, too many people aren't getting timely access to the care they need, with many dying frightened, alone and in avoidable pain.

"We recognise the assisted dying debate is highly emotional and complex, with a wide range of views, and Marie Curie continues to take a neutral position on this. However, whilst the debate continues, the care of people at the end of life must be properly resourced and sustainably funded.
