After your talk
After your talk there might be a few things to follow up on such as banking a donation, letting your community fundraiser know how it went and thanking your host.
Here's your checklist of what to do now the talk's done.
Update your Community Fundraiser
- How did it go?
- Any feedback? Good and areas of improvement
- Were there any donations on the night?
- If you’re a member of a Fundraising Group, let them know how it went, too.
Bank any donations
Follow the cash handling and banking process which your Community Fundraiser has agreed with you. If you're at all unsure, ask them for guidance.
Here's our banking guidance for fundraising groups.
Decide who'll send donation thank yous
If it's you rather than your Community Fundraiser, you might find this template thank you letter helpful.
Agree who'll follow up with host after the talk
Whether that's you, or your Community Fundraiser.
Pass on any offers of support
Whether these came from the group, organisation or business as a whole, or an individual who you spoke to, make sure you pass them on to your Community Fundraiser to follow up. They might be:
- plans for a donation later in the year
- interest in charity of the year applications
- offers to do a fundraising activity
- offers to help with a collection
- offers to volunteer.
Claim your expenses
You can claim back any out-of-pocket expenses – as agreed with your Community Fundraiser – using the Volunteer Expenses Claim Form .
What can you claim?
We'll reimburse travel expenses to and from the place where you're giving your talk, and any travel undertaken as part of the Speaker role.
We'll also reimburse the cost of a meal if you've volunteered for more than four continuous hours in one day, over the course of a meal time.
