Five steps to holding your Big Summer Quiz

How the money you raise helps

£23 could help pay for one hour of vital nursing care for someone living with a terminal illness, in the comfort of their own home.

£32 could help fund an hour of bereavement counselling in one of our hospices.

£96 could help fund three calls to our Support Line, meaning people in need can receive practical information and emotional support.

£200 could help fund nine hours of nursing support in someone's home through the night, bringing the expert care and comfort families need.

Every day I see the difference good care and support makes to people at the end of life, and those close to them. Hosting a Big Summer Quiz is a great way to have some fun while helping us be there for more people.

Frequently asked questions

The money you raise helps Marie Curie provide nursing and hospice care for people living with a terminal illness, a free support line and a wealth of information and support on all aspects of dying, death and bereavement.

It also helps our leading researchers to push the boundaries of what we know about good end of life, and our campaigners to fight for the systematic changes needed for everyone in the UK to get the best experience possible at the end of their lives.

Whether you host a big summer quiz, garden party, bake sale, or movie night in, we want you to get together with your friends and family to raise some funds!

You can collect donations offline during your event by selling tickets to your event, selling tasty treats, or collecting cash donations during your events. Get stuck in together and you can achieve amazing things! Raising £200 could help to fund up to ten hours of nursing care and emotional support for someone dealing with terminal illness in the comfort of their own home.

You can get started by creating a JustGiving fundraising page.

Don't worry, you can take part however you like! Complete a solo activity, or set yourself a challenge doing something you enjoy. There are so many things you could do – the options are endless! Whichever way you decide to raise vital funds this summer is welcome.

If you’re stuck for ideas, check out mariecurie.org.uk/fundraise for some other ways you can get involved.

When you sign up to organise a summer fundraiser, you'll start to receive regular emails from us with all the information you need such as downloadable resources and additional fundraising ideas.

We'll also remind you of the massive impact your fundraising can have for you to share on your fundraising page, or with friends and family when asking for donations.

You'll receive a fundraising pack in the post including a sponsorship form and a collection box to get you started. If there's anything else you need, let us know by emailing us at fundraising@mariecurie.org.uk.

This should arrive in the post around a week after you sign up – but please allow up to two weeks. If you think your pack or letter has been lost in the post, please contact our Supporter Relations Team by calling 0800 716 146 (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm) or emailing fundraising@mariecurie.org.uk.

Although there isn't a strict deadline for when to fundraise for Marie Curie, we'd expect most people to have registered their interest for hosting a summer fundraiser by 31 July. Sign up today and get planning!

The easiest place to start is by setting up a JustGiving page and setting a donation amount. Friends and family can donate directly to the page, and you can share it on social media, in messages or by email to encourage others to donate too.

You can also customise your page to explain why you're fundraising – read some tips on how to make the most of your fundraising page  .

If you're collecting donations in cash, you can use the sponsorship form in your welcome pack to send your cash in or visit this webpage for details on how to pay in your cash raised offline. Don’t forget to add Gift Aid to your donations (either online of using the form) if your donors are eligible.

Spread the word far and wide! As well as sending direct invites to your friends and family, you can also share your JustGiving page on social media or in your group chats or email for extra donations.

We can't wait to see what fun you get up to, so please do share your stories and photos with @MarieCurieUK  !
