What is hospice care at home?

From nursing and personal care to emotional support, the Hospice Care at Home service provides expert, hands-on care in the comfort of your own home. We can manage your symptoms, help you plan the care you need and provide vital emotional support, so you feel safe, reassured and get the vital services which could otherwise be out of reach.

In some areas, depending on the support you need, we may be able to provide our Urgent Hospice Care at Home service, bringing you fast, responsive care so you don’t have to wait for the next scheduled visit and can avoid the anxiety of rushing to hospital.

Hospice Care at Home services help people with any illness they’re likely to die from, and the people close to them.

What hospice care can we offer?

The care and support we provide will vary depending on your individual needs and what services are available in your area. It may include:

The health and social care professionals looking after you can refer you into the services. This includes your hospital team, district nurse, care home staff or GP.

Your district nurse or GP will discuss with you whether our services are right for you and what type and duration of care would be most helpful. If you both agree you would benefit from the care we offer, they will contact us and organise a Marie Curie Nurse to visit you.

Neil was at home and he was pain free when he passed, and that's all he wanted from the start. You just can't ask for more. Marie Curie was unlike anyone else on his journey.
I'd been doing everything for him and knew exactly how things needed to be done – and Marie Curie just got it immediately. The sense of care they had for Neil; I can't even put it into words. The only way I could describe it was like being helped by angels.
